Plain-language summary (not a substitute for the terms below): Beyond the Noise is a free educational website and YouTube channel about retirement planning. Everything here is for education only — it is not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. The site does not collect your data or ask you to create an account. Articles and tools we link to are run by other people and by our own separate tools, each under its own terms. Talk to qualified professionals before acting on anything you read here.

1. Acceptance of Terms

This website, together with its content, graphics, and any interactive tools it links to or hosts (collectively, the “Site”), is published by Beyond the Noise (“we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you (“you,” “user”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, including every disclaimer, disclosure, and policy on this page (collectively, the “Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

2. What Beyond the Noise Is

Beyond the Noise is an educational project — a YouTube channel and companion website that explain retirement-planning topics through a ten-step roadmap, supporting articles, and interactive educational tools. It is a teaching resource, not a planning, advisory, brokerage, or decision-making service. The roadmap presents general concepts in a deliberate order; it does not evaluate your specific circumstances and does not produce a plan for you.

Nothing on the Site — no article, video, step, chart, tool output, label, or example — constitutes financial, tax, legal, accounting, or investment advice, and nothing on the Site is an offer, solicitation, or recommendation to buy or sell any security or to execute any transaction (including any Roth conversion, withdrawal, insurance purchase, or Social Security claiming decision). All content is general and educational, is not tailored to your complete financial circumstances, and should not be relied upon as the basis for any decision.

4. No Fiduciary or Professional Relationship

Your use of the Site does not create a fiduciary, advisory, client, or professional relationship of any kind between you and Beyond the Noise or any person associated with it. We are not acting as your investment adviser, broker, accountant, enrolled agent, insurance agent, or attorney, and we accept no duty — fiduciary or otherwise — arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content.

5. Not an Offer or Solicitation

The Site does not offer, sell, or solicit the purchase or sale of any security, insurance product, or financial service, and is not directed to any person in any jurisdiction where such an offer or solicitation would be unlawful. References to specific strategies, account types, or products are illustrative and are not endorsements.

6. Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the decisions you make and the actions you take. In particular:

  • You are responsible for verifying any figure, rule, threshold, or deadline referenced on the Site against current, authoritative sources before relying on it.
  • Eligibility and consequences. It is solely your responsibility to confirm — with your plan administrator, account custodian, insurer, and a qualified tax professional — that any strategy you are considering (a conversion, withdrawal, rollover, claiming decision, or purchase) is actually permitted, penalty-free, and appropriate for your specific accounts and situation. The Site explains concepts; it cannot determine what is permissible or advisable for you.
  • You are responsible for consulting qualified professionals (such as a CPA, enrolled agent, attorney, and/or a fiduciary financial planner) before acting on anything you learn here.

The Site links to third-party articles, websites, calculators, and resources for your convenience. We do not control, endorse, guarantee, or assume responsibility for any third-party content, product, or service, and a link is not an endorsement. Third-party materials are governed by the terms and privacy policies of the parties that provide them; review those before relying on or interacting with them. We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, availability, or safety of any linked resource, and your dealings with any third party are solely between you and that party.

8. Beyond the Noise Interactive Tools

Some steps link to interactive tools we build (for example, retirement modeling, Roth conversion, ETF selection, and long-term-care calculators). Each tool is a separate educational model governed by its own Terms of Use, Disclaimers, and Privacy Policy, which are presented within that tool and are incorporated here by reference. Those tools are deterministic or simulation-based illustrations that rely on simplified assumptions and on inputs you supply; their outputs are hypothetical, are not predictions or recommendations, and may differ substantially from real-world results. Where a tool’s terms and these Terms both apply, the tool’s own terms govern your use of that tool.

No guarantee of calculation accuracy. The Beyond the Noise tools are built, maintained, and quality-checked by one person, and are not independently audited, reviewed, or professionally verified. They may contain errors, bugs, or mistaken assumptions. We make no representation or warranty of any kind that any calculation, formula, figure, projection, or result produced by a tool is accurate, complete, current, or free of error, and no such guarantee should be expected or implied. You are solely responsible for independently verifying any result before relying on it, and for confirming anything you would act on with a qualified professional.

9. Educational Content & Results Disclaimer

Results are projections, not predictions. Any numbers, ranges, or examples shown anywhere on the Site or in a linked tool are hypothetical illustrations based on simplified assumptions and on laws that change. Actual outcomes — investment returns, taxes, surcharges, benefits, and costs — will differ, possibly substantially. Tax and benefit rules are set by Congress, the IRS, CMS, the SSA, and state authorities and are revised regularly, sometimes retroactively. Nothing shown is a promise of any particular result.

10. Intellectual Property

The Site — including its code, design, text, graphics, video, the “Beyond the Noise” name, logo, and marks — is owned by Beyond the Noise and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. Public facts, tax tables, and formulas are not claimed as proprietary; their selection, arrangement, presentation, and implementation are. You may share links to the Site and screenshots for personal, non-commercial, educational discussion with attribution. You may not copy, republish, sell, or redistribute the Site’s content as your own, or remove or obscure any disclaimer, notice, or attribution. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

11. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Site to violate any law; to copy, scrape, or redistribute its content for commercial purposes; to introduce malicious code; to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system; or to misrepresent the Site’s content as personalized advice to any third party. We may restrict or terminate access at any time for any reason.

12. Donations & Payment Processors

The Site may, now or in the future, offer a way to support the channel through voluntary donations. Any donation is exactly that — a voluntary gift that purchases no product, service, advice, or advisory relationship, and entitles you to nothing in return. Donations, if offered, are processed by an independent third-party payment processor under its own terms and privacy policy; you provide your payment details to that processor, not to us, and we never receive or store your card or bank information. Donations are generally non-refundable except as required by law or the processor’s policy, and are not tax-deductible unless expressly stated.

13. Privacy Policy

The short version: this website does not collect your personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no forms that ask for personal or financial information.

  • What we collect: nothing. The Site does not ask you to create an account or submit personal or financial information, and it does not gather such information from you.
  • Cookies and analytics. The Site itself does not set advertising cookies. If we ever add privacy-respecting analytics, this policy will be updated to say so before it goes live.
  • Server logs. Whatever web host serves these files may keep standard access logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp), as virtually all web hosts do. That is a function of how the internet works and is outside our control.
  • Interactive tools. Any figures you enter into a linked Beyond the Noise tool are handled under that tool’s own privacy policy; our tools are built to run in your browser and not transmit your inputs to us.
  • Third parties. Links to YouTube, third-party articles, calculators, or a donation processor take you to services with their own data practices; review their policies. Following such a link may expose your IP address and browser metadata to that service.
  • Children. The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13; we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

14. Changes to the Site & These Terms

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site — including its content, links, tools, and features — at any time without notice. We may also revise these Terms; the version and effective date appear at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties; Limitation of Liability

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Beyond the Noise and its owners, operators, and contributors from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

17. Governing Law; Severability

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kansas, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.

18. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be directed to us through the contact options listed on the Beyond the Noise YouTube channel. Replace this with your preferred contact email or form before launch.
